Did Steve Kerr think Andre Iguodala would leave Warriors? ‘I figured…'

There was never a doubt in Steve Kerr's mind.

Despite Andre Iguodala taking meetings with other teams, the Warriors head coach never felt that the then-free agent would leave the Warriors.

"I never thought he would leave. I figured he would end up with us. He didn't want to leave," Kerr said Tuesday while appearing on SiriusXM NBA Radio. "But players have to negotiate and use their leverage, which he did a good job of. Ultimately, we got him back, he's back and we're all happy."

The 33-year-old Iguodala leveraged the Warriors into a new fully guaranteed three-year pact that is expected to net him $48 million.

A day after announcing that he was returning to the Warriors, Iguodala explained his mindset when meeting with prospective teams.

"Whenever I take a meeting or have an opportunity with another organization, I take it very seriously as if I have a chance of going there or I am gonna go there," Iguodala said on NBA TV on July 2. "You just see how things play out. You weigh your options. It's the business of it and you have to respect it. So I try to do that to the best of my ability."
