Golden State’s best kept secret Stephen Curry broke into mainstream media during the Warriors’ electrifying run in the 2013 NBA Playoffs.

Curry graced the cover of SLAM’s November issue, a feat no other Warrior has done since Mike Dunleavy Jr. posed with the ’02-03 Rookie Class (Harrison Barnes made the cover in 2011 as a North Carolina Tar Heel). Before that Tim Hardaway and Latrell Sprewell landed a cover in 1995 when SLAM was still in its infancy.

Since the playoffs Curry has garnered national attention and posed for the most recent cover of Sports Illustrated. Even though that is a great achievement in itself, for a basketball head there is arguably no greater high than being featured on SLAM.

Curry also cracked SLAM’s Top 50 list and notched a 10th place ranking. Curry’s All-Star snub last season was all but forgotten since he was also ranked as the fourth best point guard in the league in front of Tony Parker and Russell Westbrook.
